Question about PSU patching when GI and DB is different version

AJJul 20 2012 — edited Jul 20 2012
Hi everyone

I have some doubt when it comes to PSU patching when the GI home and DB home is of different versions.

I have 2 node RAC cluster on RHEL 5.
My Grid Infrastructure home is running version 11.2.0.3 while my RAC rdbms home is 11.2.0.2.

I know that the Grid Infrastructure PSUs also include the database PSU and that it should be applied to both homes of same version.
When patching my RAC rdbms home (11.2.0.2); should I install the GI PSU for 11.2.0.2 or just the RAC database part?

E.g.:
installing 11.2.0.2.6 PSU which consists of 13696242 (Grid infrastructure patch set update) and 13696224 (Database Patch Set Update).
Should I ignore the 13696242 and just install 13696224 ? Or should I install both.

Thanks.
