question about Oracle certifications

Ive been an SQL DBA for a while now and want to make the switch. However, I was just reading about the 10g cert path for OCPand am a bit confused. Theres only two exams which is a bit shocking? But more than that, I MUST go to a class from Oracle for $2500? Is this correct? Can I go to my local tech school? Is there an online version? If I MUST go to Oracle U. for $2500, how does anyone get certified?
