Question about JDBC

Hi all Java Developers..!!
i want to know one thing...!!!
What is Full Form Of JDBC.(According to Sun)..?
is it Java DataBase Connectivity..??
One Of my friend challenged over that JDBC is dosent stand for Java DataBase Connectivity bt it is only used for simplicity and to understand.
and Sun dint mean Java DataBase Connectivity by JDBC,but it is a collective trade mark.
Please make it clear to me ..
