I am trying to understand what direct NFS is exactly and so far I'm not clear on where it can be used or if applies to my environment.
so I was hoping if I laid out my configuration it would be easier for someone to respond and say yes it applies or no it does not.
My environment is RHEL Linux Virtual machines hosting Oracle Databases (11g, 12c) with the datafiles using ext4 filesystems.
Where I use NFS now is to connect to shares between Linux servers to share data (not where I am looking at dnfs) as well as writing and reading from a 3rd party device where we store RMAN data.
So I am not using ASM and I am not using SAN volumes exported via NFS so is there any reason for me to look at dnfs?
From some research it says 'dnfs is an optimized NFS client' so would it help me with my rman activity if the vendor's hardware solution supports it or does that not really matter?
