Good morning,

I have been following the request of another poster wanting to block a number of client tools from connecting to the database.

I've always thought that such attempts were completely futile as a knowledgeable individual can make any tool impersonate another or simply make a well known tool present a "profile" that is not in the list of blocked applications.

Am I mistaken in thinking that attempting to block clients from accessing the database is futile or, can this really be done successfully ?
