Question about BIGFILE vs SMALLFILE

Good morning,

I've been reading about BIGFILE and SMALLFILE for tablespaces.

I get the feeling that other than the allowed size of the file and possibly reducing the number of files a DBA has to be "aware" of, I don't see many advantages to BIGFILE and potentially a lot of disadvantages.

The question: What are the common cases where BIGFILE would be a good choice ?
