Question about a Oracle backup process

3196878Mar 14 2016 — edited Mar 15 2016

Hello,

I would like to ask a question and see if anyone may be able to help. I know nothing about Oracle DB so if there is someone that answer please reply in layman's terms.

We had persone come in a perform a backup for us to be sent off to another company. The company wanted the backup file in a .BAK format.

The database was online and not taken offline.

The command that was used is as follows:

RMAN> connect Target sys/(Password)@PROD

1> Backup as backupset database format =”Z:\Staff Suite Data.bak”;

This created a file of 108gig’s in the file Staff Suite Data.BAK

My question is this, is there a way to restore, open or anything with this file?

Thank you
