Querying recovery catlog question....

user097815Apr 15 2009 — edited Apr 16 2009
hello all,

I had a question on Recovery catlog. We have a Recovery catlog called RCAT. And we have about 25 database registered to it. And now our company wants to query or make a custom procedure/package or something to query the RCAT to get info on database. If the database got backed up succesfully or not.

i did looked at below link and a couple of docs
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/backup.102/b14194/rcviews001.htm
about the recovery catlog veiws...one intresting view was RC_RMAN_BACKUP_JOB_DETAILS and that satisfied my first requirement of finding if the DB at enterpirse level are backed up or failed...but now here is the question...

Once or if the DB backup fails and we go in and manually kick of the backup...how to keep track of that as well(besides knowing backup fail)...can we just query that info out of RCAT ??....and get the info we need....to see wat DB got backed up or not(failed) or how to know when we kicked of a manual backup instead of the shell script running(cron).

is there anyway to find that out besides looking at the log from the backup thru cron ?? is there any views or any table in recovery catlog we can use to query to get info when we kick manual backup once cron backup fails ??

Oracle Version 10.2.0.3 for RCAT and DB registred to RCAT varies from 9i to 10.2.0.3

also we have another recovery catlog of version 9.2.0.6 ...and i dont see a view called RC_RMAN_BACKUP_JOB_DETAILS to see if my backup were succesfull or not ?? what can i query in 9i recovery catlog to see if my Database registerd there were backup (completed or failed)..

THANK YOU
