Query with date criterial fails

I have tried this with:
ODBC version 8.1.7.0, 8.1.7.10, 9.2.0.5.6 and 9.2.0.6
MS-Access versions 2000 and 2002.
I have to large tables each with 15+ fields that I link in MS-Access using Oracle ODBC. I setup DB relationship between the two table using 4 fields. I add those 4 fields to a new query. It works. I add one other field a date field. It works. I add a criteria to that date field and it blows up every time whether it is for a specifc date or a date range. BUT if I use MS ODBC for Oracle it works everytime withOUT any errors?????

Any ideas?
