query in unary relationship

Hi,

I have two tables

1) employee ssn is the primary key
2)manages here this has manager_ssn and employee_ssn and start date primary key is the combination of manager ssn and employee ssn .I want to find all employees under one manager say abc

this manages table shows manager and employee relationships

in the query do i need to say in the where clause
emp.ssn=manages.employee_ssn and emp.ssn =manages.manager_ssn
or just emp.ssn = manages.employee_ssn
can anyone please help me out im sorryif im not clear...
