Purging AWR to free up SYSAUX space

Y.RamletJul 29 2013 — edited Jul 30 2013

Version:11.2.0.3/Solaris 11

Our sysaux tablespace has reached 50gb and nearing full.

From v$sysaux_occupants , we have determined that AWR is consuming nearly 35gb . The retention period is 30 days with 30 minute snapshot interval. How should I deal with this and free up the space in Sysaux ?

From googling , I came across commands like below

exec dbms_workload_repository.drop_snapshot_range(low_snap_id => 7556, high_snap_id=>15000);

Is this how you free up SYSAUX space ?
