Purge Performance

Hi, we are on 9.2.0.8 and we are using the supplied
purge template to purge the Runtime Repos.
However, it's a bit slow. IS there any way
to speed up the purge process ?

The DBA's say that they had once collected stats on the RT repos and realised it was a mistake.They then deleted
stats, would this cause any issues for the purge API's ?
