PUBLIC USER IN APPS MODE PRIVELAGES AND TASKS

DELIVER BIJan 15 2007 — edited Jan 16 2007
-- Here is my problem

When new users are created they are given all privelages such as create workbook.. So i took micheals approach and took the PUBLIC user and took away all the additional privelages apart from the very top one. Basically to allow new users created only to open workbooks. But when i create a new user and check in discoverer admin they still still have all privelages .. does anyone know what im doing wrong

Hi took this from micheals post ...

Hi
The main problem you seem to be seeing is that you are unaware that whoever created your EUL probably created it as a public EUL. What this means is that the PUBLIC user / role automatically gets full end user rights. Then, whenever any new user gets created it automatically gets the public rights.

To stop this you need to edit the privileges of PUBLIC inside Admin edition and revoke everything except the top-level privilege. This will allow all new users to be Viewer users but will not allow them to create.

If this still does not work make sure that no other responsibility is being granted to the users by mistake, one that could allow Discoverer access.

Buy the way, assigning Discoverer privileges to individual Apps users is not the most efficient or recommended way of doing it. You need to assign the privileges to a responsibility.
