pstack: cannot examine <pid>: process is traced

807559Nov 12 2008
Hi There,

We have encountered a strange problem with our application running on Solaris 9.
Once in a while, performance of one of the process goes down and when we try to run any process examine commands like pstack, pargs, pmap etc. We are getting a error "pstack: cannot examine <pid>: process is traced".

Currently we are restarting the traced process to get back to normal performance. Strangely, this behaviour is seen only with one of 50 processes running as part of our application.

How do I go about disabling and preventing a process from getting traced by Solaris?

Any help in this matter will be much appreciated.

Thanks in Advance,
Nagendra
