PRVF-4096 : These nodes cannot be reached

im trying to install oracle rac 11.2 on virtual box on linux guest ol5.8 , i downloaded the cluster verification utility and when i run the command

./cluvfy stage -pre crsinst -n o15-112-rac1.localdomain,ol5-112-rac2.localdomain -verbose

i get

Verifying Node Reachability ...FAILED (PRVF-4083, PRKN-1034)

PRVF-4096 : These nodes cannot be reached: o15-112-rac1

Verification will proceed with nodes: ol5-112-rac2

in the hosts file the ip addresses are defined properly i tested with the ping -c 3 nodename for each node from each node pings properly

any help is appreciated
