Protecting HFM Spreadsheets - Smartview

758661Nov 2 2010 — edited Sep 15 2011
We are using Excel 2007, HFM 11.1.1.1 and Smartview 11.1.1.2

My proplem is best described by an example...

Create Smartview Spreadsheet.
Protect It
Save to Drive C
In Windows, copy spreadsheet to mapped network drive (M for Example)
On the same system, open up the Smartview Spreadsheet from Drive M
Excel is unable to "Update" the links and it looks for HSTbar.xla on drive "M", not C:\Hyperion\Smartview\Bin

I can understand if I was opening the spreadsheet on a different system, where HSTBar.xla was installed someplace else, but I am opening it on the same system - I just copied the file to a different place.

Oracle Tech Support tells me this is the way it works.

This makes protecting spreadsheets virtually useless unless everyone opens the sheet up from the same location that it was originally saved.

Am I missing something here?

Thanks,
General Patton
