Pronunciation

202707Jan 4 2003 — edited Jan 12 2003
I've recently started volunteering at an organization called "Reading for the Blind and Dyslexic." They read books onto CDs and tapes for those who can't read.

One of the upcoming projects is the "Oracle 9i DBA Handbook." With my Oracle background, I'm guessing that I'll be the one reading the book. Whether I'm doing it or not, I thought I'd take an informal poll on how Oracle users pronounce certain acronyms/abbreviations. All opinions on the following terms are welcome:

SQL: "S-Q-L", "sequel", or some other pronunciation?

PL/SQL: "P-L-slash-S-Q-L", "P-L-S-Q-L", "P-L-sequel", or some other pronunciation?

I/O: "I-O", "I-slash-O", "input output", or some other pronunciation?

Any thoughts on any other Oracle terms that might be confusing are welcome as well.

Thanks,
Rich
