Profile to kill INACTIVE session

We have a web application which creates the session on Oracle and even after logging out from application, still the connection on oracle persist and status is 'INACTIVE'.
To fix the issue i created the profile and set the resource limit IDLE_TIME 30 and assign this profile to user. Now i observed that even after 30 min still the sessions exist and the status is also same i.e. INACTIVE'
Is this not the right way to kill the inactive sessions after sometime.
Please provide your inputs.
