problems inserting new data - Automatic Row Processing (DML)

i have problems inserting a new recordset using Automatic Row Processing (DML) (in Page Processing).
i get the error message: ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ("MY_WORKSPACE"."ARTICLE"."ART_NO")
in the Page Process for inserting new data i set the following data:
Item Containing Primary Key Column Value : P9_ART_NO_NEW (this is a textbox - filled with a valid value)
Primary Key Column : ART_NO
When i display the value of the P9_ART_NO_NEW Item (Process Error Message: Value= &P9_ART_NO_NEW. ) it seems all fine (valid value)
whats the problem? why is the "Item Containing Primary Key Column" ignored.
i have 2 page processes (one for inserting and one for updateing) because there are different page-items (textboxes, hidden-fields) depending on the action(insert, update).
