Problem with Sony Tape Drive SDT 7000 and Dawicontrol SCSI Controller

807559Jan 2 2001 — edited Jan 4 2001
Hi,

Ive got following Problem:

Hardware: Plextor Ultraplex 40 SCSI, Tape Drive Sony STD-7000, SCSI Controller DC 2975U / Davicontrol SUN OS 7 and SUN OS 8 - Same error.

After reconfiguring the controller, Im unable to mt status my tape drive. No entries are in /dev/rmt, but my cdrom is fully mountable and works fine.
Replacing the DC Controller with an other type of scsi controller works fine and my tape drive gets seen in SUN OS. Under WIN NT/WIN98 the tape drive with the DC Controller gets also seen and fully functional. I tried to configure SUN OS 7/8 with the command drvconf, drvlinks, tapes ... also, no success. Any idea ? The DC 2975 Controller is supported by SUN OS 7/8 with the ncrs Device Treiber, because of the symbios logic SCSI chipset.

Thanks for any idea,

Rainer, Austria
