Problem with queries containing rowid

The application I am using connects to a remote oracle database from the pc using oracle client and the oracle odbc driver. With oracle 9.x client, I am having problems with queries containing rowid. The error is:

Unknown Datatype in CXMLDbField::DoFieldExchange; Index = 1 Type = 4294967288 Name = ROWID

Is there a problem with the 9.x oracle odbc drivers?
