Problem with Emulex Netque Print Server on Solaris 9

807559Dec 28 2005
Hi,

I am currently trying to configure the emulex netque print server to
work on my solaris 9 server without much success. Following the
guide provided in the emulex site:
http://www.emulex.com/ts/legacy/ps/index.html it seems like the
first test print was fine during the creation of printer while the
second test print after the print spool queue was created, failed.
Nothing came out after the command "lp -d xxxx /etc/hosts"

Since the product is no longer supported and there is hardly nearly
help available on the net, this is my only hope to get the thing
working.

During my troubleshooting, I have successfully created and printed
from a VMS server, thus that elimnate the possibility of print
server issue. All the test were on the same network segment.

I have verified the configuration, one thing I am not sure is that
the device file mapped to the created printer is /dev/null unlike
other printers created via jetadmin which have a physical device
file made from within /dev. Below shows the example:

device for cashp1: /dev/cashp1
device for cashp2: /dev/cashp2
device for cdcomhp2: /dev/null
device for cdcomhp1: /dev/null
cashp1 accepting requests since Tue Dec 06 14:25:17 2005
cashp2 accepting requests since Tue Dec 06 14:25:47 2005
cdcomhp2 accepting requests since Fri Dec 23 12:00:19 2005
cdcomhp1 accepting requests since Fri Dec 23 12:12:36 2005
printer cashp1 is idle. enabled since Tue Dec 06 14:25:17 2005.
