Problem using backspace & delete keys Oracle Sql Developer

I am using Oralce SQL Developer 1.5.4. Not sure what has happened! When I am typing sql code into a sql worksheet I can no longer use the back space key or the delete key. It is becoming very aggravating because if I enter the wrong letter and try to back space or delete to re-key, they will not work. I have to use the pencil and erase the how line I just entered. I may have accidentally changed some setting that I am not aware of. I have been using this product for 3 years and I have never made any changes to the settings. So, if changed, it is unknown to me! I have tooked at the settings and I do not see one that would relate to this issue.

Any ideas?
