Problem to start application on Mac OSX
843802May 10 2010 — edited May 10 2010A potential user of my Javaws program reported that he cannot
start my java application on his Mac. He did not specify the
problem. He only said that he is usually able to start jnlp
applications. The same happened already in the past. On the
occasion I even was a witness. We clicked the jnlp link
in the browser and we observed some activity on the HD. Nothing
happened afterwards, no error message, nothing. Very embarassing!
Because these users lost interest in my project, I cannot obtain
more information to identify the problem.
I am aware, that in rare cases javaws just stalls when starting
an application. In this occasion clearing the cache is usually
the cure to the problem.
Since both Mac users said that usually Java-applications start without
problem, I assume, that Java is set up perfectly and that the Proxy
settings are fine.
I assume that there is an error in my Jnlp file.
I checked with ValidateJNLP from http://mindprod.com/jgloss/jnlp.html
but could not identify a problem.
I tested the application with openjdk, sun-jre 1.5 and 1.6 and IBM-JDK
on Linux and with Sun-jre on WinXP and with 1.5 and 1.6 on MacOSX. In
all cases it works. I also used computers in a public pool which are
reset each day and hence do not have a history.
Only once after an update of my jars I observed that it could not be
started on Linux any more. But javaws -uninstall was a rescue.
Is there something wrong with my jnlp?

Does it have something todo with pack200?
Here is the same Jnlp without pack200

What else could I do?
