Problem to log in with CDE

807559Nov 9 2001 — edited Sep 14 2005
I got a preinstalled Solaris on an Ultra5 running. At first I did not want to use CDE, so I
used /usr/dt/bin/dtconfig -d and got everything working. After a couple of days I needed to run an application with graphical interface so I used /usr/dt/bin/dtconfig -e and restarted the mashine.

Unfortunatly after I log in I get an error message like:

The DT messaging system could not be started
1. Close your session
2. Start in Failsafe
3 Check your hosts file
...blah...blah

My hosts file looks something like:

#
# Internet host table
#
127.0.0.1 localhost loghost
10.128.76.77 zyklop loghost zyclop.intern.tstrch.com

I also deleted my home directory and created a blank one to see if some strange configuration file was the culprit, without luck, get the same message.

Everything else works i.e. I can telnet to the mashine over the lan so I guess the hosts stuff is working.

Several people recomended me reinstalling the whole OS, but I belive I am only missing something trivial.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Greets
Peter
