Problem installing/using Java Plugin

843804Apr 13 2004 — edited Apr 13 2004
First off, I am fairly new to Linux (currently reading Red Hat 9 Bible) and I am not a programmer.

I was however able to install the RPM j2re-1_4_2_03-linux-i586-rpm successfully I believe. The icon now appears in my (main menu>>Preferences>>Java) so I am assuming the installation went smooth.

But when I go to use the Yahoo java program I still get the error "application/x-java-vm" needs the appropriate plug-in. And gives me a link to the site where I already downloaded the Java Plug-in!!
I already installed it!!

Is there something I am missing?? It driving me nuts!!

Any help would be appreciated..PS I am using Red Hat 9 if that makes a difference...

thanks
