Problem displaying images?

Not sure why but i seem to have problems displaying images in an JApplet i've made. When i run it as a normal App it displays the images fine on the panel but when i run it as an Applet it won't display the image, that is unless i restart the AppletViewer using the menubar option. When i press restart the image appears.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.
