Privilege problem with wireless interface

807557May 7 2006 — edited May 9 2006
Hi all,

I have a nicely working Solaris 10 installation on a laptop never touched by any other operating system. =) I've managed to create a wireless connection, and now I'm trying to get it in use for other users besides root, too. I'm using 'wificonfig' -utility to connect to my WLAN with a WEP key. For non-root users it reports about insufficient privileges, and

"ppriv -eD touch wificonfig"

ends up to the lack of the 'file_owner' privilege. I've set file_owner and 'net_rawaccess' privileges for wificonfig and given the authorizations 'solaris.network.wifi.config' and 'solaris.network.wifi.wep' for the other users in the means of Network Management rights. I used Solaris Management Console to configure privileges and authorizations. I've also set appropriate user rights for wificonfig. Am I still out of some security issues or what could help to get the interface working for non-root users?

Please help a frustrated Solaris lover!
