Printing to dot-matrix printer

Hi,

I wanted to know how APEX deals with while printing to dot-matrix printer. Or probably, I want to know how we can control our output to be able to print on dot-matrix printer.

I tried printing some small line of output which is generated from APEX report. It prints differently when compared to same text being printed from Word doc using same font and size which I use in APEX. I just wonder why there is a huge difference in printouts (size & quality) coming from two different applications? I select exactly same printer while printing from both these applications. Can someone clarify.
