Print to Intermec printer from Java web app

I need to print a label (2inchx1inch size) which will have a barcode using Intermac 3400 printer from Java web application. Have you done anything similar to this? I tried creating IPL commnads and sending them as String to Intermec printer, but no luck. Nothing is getting printed on Intermec. Samething If I send to HP Laser jet it prints IPL commands. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
