Print or Preview closes (crashes) Hyperion Enterprise Reporting
Issue:
A number of reports fail to work properly after an upgrade from Hyperion Enterprise (HE) and Hyperion Enterprise Reporting (HER) 6.4 to 6.5.0. When the print or preview is selected, the report and Hyperion Enterprise Reporting closes. We have a workaround, but we've been unable to determine what is causing this behaviour. No error is recorded in Hyperion Enterprise logs and no event is recorded in MS Windows Events log. Hyperion Enterprise Error log records that the user executed a print or preview of the report.
This behaviour occurs through the desktop HER client on the server as well as connecting HER desktop client on another machine.
Attempts to isolate the Issue:
1.) We exported Hyperion Enterprise and Hyperion Enterprise Reporting to another machine and the reports in question printed and previewed without issue.
2.) Copying and renaming the non-working reports. The issue remained.
We are in the middle of recreating one of the simpler non-working reports from scratch. Unfortunately, if this fixes the issue it would mean huge number of days to recreate each of the non-working reports. I’ve posted this out in OTN in the hopes someone else have come across this issue or has any suggestion that we haven’t yet tried. Thanks for the look and any comments.
Attempted Fixes:
1) We uninstalled Hyperion Enterprise Reporting and then performed a reinstall. Thinking there was some corruption during the original installation. The issue remained.

Workaround 2:

Save As (Keep the same name)
Close report
Open the original report
File/Print
it works (during the current session only)

Crash (Report and HER client closes)
Something is happening in the step Save As that causes the Hyperion Reporting not to fail during the session only. If Hyperion Reporting is closed and re-opened, the issue remains.
Workaround 3:
Log into Reporting and connect to a different application.
Change to the production application by going to File -> Select Application…
No issues encountered with reports now.
