Primary group and secondary group

hi,
During pre-installation so far i created only one group and one user to it.
While I reading one document it says it is necessary to create secondary group.i dont know wat is secondary group and how to create? and what is the necessity to create secondary group?
can anyone tell me what is the difference between primary group and secondary group and itz neccesity? and how to create those group.

who will be the owner of ORAINVENTORY directory?

can anyone assist me in this, to know abt this, plz.....
