Popup LOV Modal Dialog open on click

Hi.

We are using Apex 22.2.

We have an app with popup LOVs.

After we changed popup LOV item “Display as” setting from “Inline Popup” to “Modal Dialog”, users have to click on the icon, that comes with the item, when changed to Modal Dialog. Popup LOV doesn't open automatically, if they click anywhere on the item.

Is it possible, to open Modal Dialog on item click? Similar to Inline Popup, where list opens when user clicks on item and not only on “down” icon?
