Popup LOV display value with manual entry

User_UFRMHMar 30 2022

Hello,
I'd like to enquire about there being a way of showing the display value in the popup LOV, after the selection has been made when manual entry is enabled.
As it stands currently, if manual entry is enabled the popup LOV will only show the return value.
Even with JavaScript we weren't able to change the display value of the item, because we reckon APEXs' AJAX is getting in the way.
Is there an easy, lightweight, universal solution that can be applied per page or at least per item itself without anything being hardcoded?
I'm thinking of jQuery here of course, please do write me an example of how to do it in JavaScript or point to a solution that is integrated in APEX.

Also what is the reasoning behind this change? If someone enters the ID manually and hits enter after selecting the desired dropdown, why not display its actual name, or even better both ID and a name. It looks unprofessional to be honest.
Thanks,
Best Regards,
Filip
