PMON timer related problem

user00726May 17 2008 — edited May 17 2008
I got to know that PMON times out every 5 minutes but when i check out

sql> select event,total_waits,total_timeouts from v$system_event;

EVENT TOTAL_WAITS TOTAL_TIMEOUTS

latch free 285 43
pmon timer 180509 180065

when icalculated 180065/28=625 i.e it means PMON has been running from last 2 years but our DB is running from jan08,so my question why it is showing so highvalue......

i am giving you a example how i calculated 288 value

as pmon times out every 5 minutes it means on a hour it should be 12 times(60/5)
and on a day 12*24=288

pls correct me if i am wrong..................
