Please I need some advise here.

HaderJul 21 2024

I Have a i7 machine (Win11 23H2) with 32Gb Memory and a 4TB disk as storage meant for Virtual machines and an Oracle database underneath it. I want to practice at home not at work.

Installed VirtualBox 7.0.20 and installed Oracle Linux 9.4 and try to install Oracle database 19.3.0. During the 19c installation (software only) I ran into troubles because even with the released version 19.3.0 there are bugs there which I can't solve without an SI number. It goes wrong during the dbca part because of a bug. Bringing ODA up 19.21 looks to solve the problem. But I can't get a patch without a SI number. (I don't need support, just the patches)

Which version should I install without these annoying problems which I can't solve;

  • Version VirtualBox 7.0.20? (Good? Or a lower one like 7.0.18?)
  • Oracle Linux version?
  • Oracle database version?

Please give me some advise because I am stopped in my tracks. With earlier versions? Works. Straight out of the box. If Oracle knows of the problem (which seems to be there with 23ai, solved it and reversed engineered it back to 19c with a patch) Why don't they release a 19.3.0 with ODA 19.21? Never saw this before. I never go for 19.0.0. Wait until the 19.2.0 stable release. All bugs should gone by then (expect the ones who reveals itself depending on de used application or conditions) That's what patches are meant for. (also for security risks) Not for straight out of the box downloads. Never saw this before. BTW.
