Please Help to Clarify if Sun Java System Directory Server Satisfies This.

Greetings. I've been researching exactly which software package comes with (what I've experienced) Sun Java System Messenger Express. Apparently, this is the software that manages email servers.

However, would an organization need to buy the entire OS (Java Enterprise, I believe) in order to get this? Or is the Sun Java System Directory Server the appropriate software package which will meet the needs of managing email servers to give the members of an organization individual emails?

I think System Directory Server is what I want, but I just really need this confirmation from you guys, the Java enthusiasts. :)
