playing audio files

Hi,

I've been searching for the last 2 days for a way to play audio files on an application so that once I click a button the audio file plays.
I have JDK 1.4.1 and I've been to many sites including
http://www.jsresources.org/examples/
and other ones and I didn't find anything that could really give me a good explanation on how sound in java works
please can anyone help me find the right way
