Planning Data Form Cells Displaying Long Decimals instead of Whole Numbers

679339Feb 10 2009 — edited Feb 13 2009
Hi,

On some of the data forms in my Planning Application, I will enter a value of 45000, for example, and then Hyperion will display it in the cell as 44999.9999. I don't know how long the decimals go on, I assume infinitely. When some of these long decimal values consolidate and sum up into totals, they are often displayed back in a normal, whole number format. So if the 44999.9999 represents Faculty Salaries and 100000 was spent on Other Salaries, Total Salaries might be displayed as the whole number sum 145000. In addition, sometimes the sum of two numbers without decimals will give a total value with a decimal. For example, 45000 + 100000 sometimes might be displayed as a total of 144999.99999. What is the reason for this seemingly random display of extended decimal values instead of the whole numbers which have been entered? It is frustrating to look at 44999.9999 instead of the value I entered in the cell of 45000. Some cells will display the whole number that was entered, and others will display an extended decimal version of the whole number. At first glance it seems to be random when it displays a whole number and when it displays an extended decimal, and as mentioned, sometimes it is the Level 0 member that is displayed as a decimal, and sometimes it is a Level 1 or 2 member that is the sum of multiple whole numbers that gets displayed as a decimal. What is causing this? Thank you.
