PL/SQL Syntax Highlighting

450664Jul 6 2006 — edited Jul 6 2006
All,

I am really enjoying our internal transition from TOAD to SQL Developer.

TOAD was a headache for us in many ways - but it wasn't until we migrated to 10g and realized that we would have to shell out several thousands of dollars for the "latest" version of TOAD just for compatibility that we decided to look elsewhere.

SQL Developer seemed like an obvious choice and I am really enjoying it's ease of use and great features.

There is one area of concern, however, and I don't know if my version just isn't working correctly or if it is something that is not implemented...

Specifically, I have a very hard time reading and following PL/SQL packages within SQL Developer.

The syntax highlighting works well for queries but is utterly lacking when, for example, calling other packages and procedures. I'm used to TOAD's color scheme and noticed the options for setting my own color schemes is lacking.

Perhaps my workspace just isn't "aware" of the other packages like it should = bug or user preference setting I've missed?

Ultimately, I just find it very hard to read large packages with so little color differentiation.

Or maybe I'm just stupid. :)
