pkgrm fails to remove partially installed package

807559Jul 11 2006 — edited Jul 11 2006
Hello everyone, I am about to the end of what I am able to do and am in a bind. I got an error installing an application that all points to a particular package. The install died and apparently the package was partially installed.

# pkginfo OPWVmspCM
mscc OPWVmspCM Openwave Mobile Services Platform, Version 2.4.0.0, Common Libraries and Utilities

I cannot retry my installation due to this package being partially installed, and I am not able to remove it using pkgrm. I get:
Do you want to continue with the removal of this package [y,n,?,q] y
## Verifying package dependencies.
## Processing package information.
pkgrm: ERROR: bad read of contents file
pkgrm: ERROR: pathname=/etc/opwv/ndd/opwv.ndd.OPWVmspCM
pkgrm: ERROR: problem=unable to read mode/owner/group

Any thoughts on what I can do here. The developer of this product will not provide support on the matter. Any assistance would be appreciated.
