pjava 1.1 beta on an HP Jornada 728

Greetings all,

I'm trying to use pjava.exe (see subject line) on my Jornada 728. It's driving me totally nuts; the I/O console window doesn't work. Starting a simple 'pjava -version' doesn't produce any output at all either. Any less than trivial program produces a mysterious 'Unable to suspend threads, 1024 (more?) times' diagnostic window ...

What is going on here? Please, can someone shed some light on this mysterious (mis)behavior?
