Pinned Buffer ???

All,

Would I be correct in assuming that a pinned buffer is an extention of dirty/clean buffer?

Reason I'm putting this question is beacuase after going through Oracle docs and other documents - any sectiion of code or db block which is in use or which is required for a longer period - we use dbms pin package to keep it in the shared pool.

Let me know your views...
