PHP 4.0.6 not supporting Oracle ?

91053Dec 4 2001
Hello,

We are currently using a PHP-web interface to interact with an Oracle 8i database. The Oracle database is installed on a Solaris 8 system, the webserver runs Linux (Apache web server).
Recently, the server was upgraded, and the latest Mandrake was installed. Apparently, there is no rpm-package to add support for an Oracle Database in PHP (this version is 4.0.6). This support was present in 4.0.3. This means that our PHP-interface currently cannot connect to the Oracle Database.

Has anyone else noticed this ?
Why would PHP drop support for Oracle ?
Are there any patches/updates/packages available to provide the necessary package ?
(our sysadmin is currently checking out whether the PHP source can be compiled, just using the package of 4.0.3 results in a version error).

Thanks !
