I multiplexed a copy of the control file to my memory stick but when I tried to restart the database, i keep getting:
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00221: error on write to control file
ORA-00206: error in writing (block 1, # blocks 1) of control file
ORA-00202: control file: '/media/NO_NAME/control01.ctl'
ORA-27041: unable to open file
Linux Error: 13: Permission denied
Additional information: 3

I have spent hours with chown, chmod, chgrp and cannot get the OS to allow Oracle to access the control fire.

I have 3 more copies of the control file on another disk and I updated control_files scope=spfile so I don't think I can just edit the pfile and open without the 4th on my memory stick.

Any ideas?
