PeopleSoft Upgrade, need to understand UPGCUST destination environment

We are upgrading from PeopleSoft FS9 to FS9.2, Tools 8.49 to 8.54.

The Change Assistant is at the step Task 4-6-1: Reviewing New Release Changes

This requires using the UPGCUST project to decide what customs to keep....

My question is , I notice that target of this project is the New Demo Database, does this mean that we push customisation to this database.

I thought the Customs and new PeopleSoft objects will end up in the Copy of Prod (upgraded tot he new tools 8.54).
