pcplusmp: NMI received errors on Intel S5000PSL / SSR212MC2
This box is giving off pcplusmp: NMI received errors constantly , yet there is no way to stop them and the hardware is not broken, here is the problem:
OS: Solaris 10, U4, Kernel 127112-07 (x86_64 / 64 bit mode). (All patches installed up through 1/25/2008 - everything)
Hardware:
Intel SSR212MC2 (S5000PSL) Motherboard (5000P Chipset)
Dual Xeon 5160 CPU
12 300GB 15K SAS HDDs (6 Mirrors, one OS root, 5 making up a zraid - raid5)
8GB of 667MHz FB-DIMM, ECC

Specific things disabled in BIOS: (Trying to stop the pcplusmp: NMI received errors )

Disabled SATA controller
Disabled PATA controller
Disabled Intel IO/AT enhanced TCP offload
Changed Memory IO based from 2.5GB default to 3.5GB, limited IO to under first 4GB
Disable NMI on SERR
Disable NMI on PERR
So I started by testing the unit with Windows 2003 SP2 Server 32-bit and with Redhat Enterprise Linux 5.1, x86_64. Ran a rather rigorous set of tests to see if the platform was stable.
Then I installed Solaris 10 u4. I was able to use the LSI provided driver but the unit was crashing under SUNWvts 6.2, and the crashdumps in /var/crash were corrupted, so after trying both the Intel SAS RAID card and the LSI card, I gave up and went to the sun-supported card, the SGXPCIESAS-R-INT-Z.
I reinstalled Solaris 10.u4, which is now fully patched.
Here is the issue: under SUNWvts 6.2 load, I get errors all the time on the console (not in syslog)
pcplusmp: NMI received
The error is seemingly not fatal unless another NMI comes while this NMI is being handled. I run memtest86+, the other OSes, everything I try I cant crash the box, but the solaris box will eventually hang. Sometimes it will crash with a dump. Other times it will simply hand there. The BIOS-LOM (IXXRMM2) LOM System Event Log shows NO anomalies whatsoever, and before the hand, the SUNWvts 6.2 logs are clean.
I cannot narrow down the test case to make it hang, but these "pcplusmp: NMI received errors" are very suspect and I need to know how to disable them.
I am setting up the kernel debugger to halt on NMI, but I'm terrible at using kmdb and am seeking help.
The other thing I've found out is this board was for a time causing issue with Linux, see here:

However, this thread was never resolved.
I think I need to attempt to send some parameters to the solaris kernel, but I think there may be a need to set certain control registers on this PCI-chipset to prevent these NMIs, or they are coming from the BMC, because I cant see any CPU or Memory errors that should cause this, so that leaves the next likely source for the NMIs being strange bus errors. The other theory is the system controller or the BMC are generating NMIs that are not being handled.
This error has followed me through Solaris 10u4 FCS through the 3 kernel patches through ZFS or UFS, nothing I can change that I know of stops these NMIs from being generated. Any help on this would be very appreciated as I have never come across something like this.
