Password expiry in profile changed by itself?

User was created with profile, password was set to expire 365 days after creation of user but the user account did NOT expire. Instead we now can see a new expiry date that is over 100 days in excess of the 365 that was originally set. User can still login to DB and has no problem so the user is not "idle"(Why Account Status Is Open When Expiry Date is Old Date in DBA_USERS (Doc ID 291195.1).

How is this possible?
