Passing/setting numeric null or blank value

I'm having problems setting a numeric value to null. My program is trying to set a hidden item on another page to null through a page branch. The hidden item is also connected to an Oracle Number field. I've tried passing null, NULL, -1 and just a blank field but none of these seem to work.
