partition problem

519709Jun 12 2009 — edited Jun 18 2009
OS RHEL 5 64-bit
Database 11g Rel 1 (Standard Edition)
SAN 300 X 4 (RAID 5)
Node1 73 X 2 (RAID 1)
Node2 73 X 2 (RAID 1)
I have to implement RAC using above two node, due to standard edition its prerequisite that i would have to go ASM fiel system for database.

I am new to RAC and it would be my first experience to implement the RAC, i need experts opinion about partitons, mount points and its spaces required over SAN and server machine local hard disk.

I have estimated myself partion, mount points and its spaces which i am sharing here please give all you experts opinion and tell me if any thing i am missing.

SAN_

-what i understnad that ASM need only raw partition and i decided 4 partitions with each 180 GB spces for ASM
in this way 4 X 180 = 720 , total size is 300 x 4 =1200, remaining space after ASM partition is 1200-720=480
-Another one partion for OCFS2 file system which i think need 4 GB , in this way reamining space 480-4=476
-i dont know how much RAID 5 need space , i heared it takes at least 80 GB , if i assume 80 GB for RAID 5 then remaining space comes to 476-80=396
-300 would be dedicated for FRA , reaming space is 396-300=96 GB

Node 1_

-one mount point of /u01 for /u01/app/oracle database software contain homes one for database home , ASM home and for clusterware home

Node 2_

-one mount point of /u01 for /u01/app/oracle database software contain homes one for database home , ASM home and for clusterware home

please share me yours expertise for that above case
